𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐲 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬

Coral reefs are the rainforest of the oceans, central to all planetary life - its global degradation prompted an evocative and timely mixed media art project. Peekskill multi-discipline artist, Christine Knowlton is collaborating with underwater photographer Bob Gould and audio/projection artist Gene Panczenko on “Collateral Damage Below”, A Coral Reef Immersive Multimedia Exhibition.

The installation runs Oct 14– Nov 17 at Wilfredo Morel’s, H-Art Wilfredo Steel Imaginations Gallery, One South Division St, 2nd Fl, Peekskill, NY. The Oct 19th, 3-5pm Opening Reception & Artists Talk will be followed by three unique musical interactions with coral reef biosphere recordings ending with an informative closing day discussion.

Christine Knowlton collaged and increasingly degraded global photographs of reef life onto a series of large panels that devolve into textural abstractions scattered with mirror fragments, sand, sea salt, dead coral dust and photo emulsion residue. Colorful photography by Bob Gould and underwater reef video will move across the ceiling and walls across art, reflective shards and
a suspended fishing net piece, Catching Closure.

Sun River Health Hosts Black History Month Art of Resistance Exhibition Event at Peekskill Health Center on February 24

PEEKSKILL, NEW YORK – The Sun River Health Jeannette J. Phillips Community Health Center, located at 1037 Main Street in downtown Peekskill, will host an event for their Art of Resistance art exhibition in honor of Black History Month in the health center’s Atrium on Saturday, February 24 from 2pm until 5pm. The exhibition itself will open to the public on Monday, February 12.
The February 24 event will include performances from 10 local spoken word artists and will highlight the exhibition’s works, which include pieces from nine graffiti artists who all drew on the theme of resistance. The event will be hosted by author, spoken word artist, and community activist Tom Ray, and will include an appearance from former Peekskill Mayor and youth advocate André “Noodle” Rainey.
This exhibition is presented by Sun River Health in tribute to their late founder, the Reverend Jeannette J. Phillips. For more information regarding the event, reach out to Wilfredo Morel at 914-643-4392 or [email protected].
