Very proud of this early 1850s Mother’s Day photo as the 3rd and 4th generation featured here spent time in Pembroke starting in 1840s And the 3rd Generation , Judith Winsor we unveiled a memorial for in 2023 for her devotion to not only the suffragist movement but also as an abolitionist. Her father Lewis Mclauthlin ran the Underground Railroad in this area from his house on High Street

Happy Mother's Day (a day late) with three amazing Duxbury moms:
Starting on the right, we have Judith Winsor Hathaway (1778-1881) - the mother of 9 children. Next to Judith is her daughter, Polly Hathaway McLauthlin (1796-1879) - the mother of 9 children. Then comes Polly's daughter Judith Winsor McLauthlin Smith (1821-1921) - the mother of 6 children. On the left, we have the fourth generation, little Frances Smith (1849-1916) - she opted to remain single. They were reformers, both suffragists and abolitionists. Judith Winsor MLaughtlin lived to cast her vote at age 99!

✨ ⭐️ TUESDAY TRIVIA!!! ⭐️✨

Unfortunately, we did not have a winner for the Herring Run trivia on what town at one time did we need to get our herring from for the annual fish fry. The answer was E. Weymouth. This year we had an abundance from our very own stream. We can’t thank you all enough for making this day possible and for all of the kind compliments and feedback!

Now on to this week’s trivia-also involving neighboring towns. As they say, April showers bring May flowers…but what do May flowers/Mayflowers bring? We all know one answer, but how about Mayflowers inspire great New England amusement parks like our past Mayflower Grove that was in Bryantville as early as the early 1900’s.

In the past, the annual Grand Old Fish Fry has brought over 1,000 attendees in one day. The Mayflower Grove would get well over 1,000 every weekend in its heyday. Many companies and organizations would hold events there in the summer.

❓❓❓100 years ago, a South Shore high school held a school event there. Which school was it ❓❓❓

A. Braintree
B. Hanover
C. Hanson
D. Hull
E. Kingston
