February 15—Women in Athletics at Pendleton Heights since 1970. When the legislation approved Title IX, which required schools provided with federal funding to offer equal access to women in sports, PHHS had many female athletes ready to compete. Participants will include an all-female panel of coaches, athletes and community members.
March 15—The Falls at Pendleton with Stephen Jackson, Madison County Historian. Nature has been more than kind to Fall Creek Township and seems to have had in view the changes that time has brought about.
The water that flows over the falls, which once was utilized to turn the wheels of the carding machine and the flour mill, both of which have long since ceased to exist, now, by the assistance of the handiwork of enterprising men of the community, passes through a beautiful little park that is known by people from Maine to Georgia.
Thousands of dollars might be spent in an attempt to duplicate this place, but it can’t be done. God and man finished the job, and any other endeavors in the matter would only result in crude imitations.
April 19—Investigating Pendleton’s historical district architecture and ownership with Tammy Bowman and Nikolas Pappas. Tammy Bowman, a volunteer Board member of Historic Fall Creek, Pendleton Settlement, follows her curiosity about the built environment and local history into the archives to find the stories of the people who built the homes of Pendleton's National Register Historic District and helped create the Town where we reside today. In this session, she'll share some tips for researching your home's history and capturing the colorful stories of the past.
