Events happening at Ashtabula and Woodburn Historic Homes

Sunday, Sept. 6- Free spinning demo & lecture - 1 PM
-House tour to follow for those interested. 2 PM
Wed., Sept. 23 – Ecology Field Trip for Homeschoolers at Ashtabula
-10AM-12noon. $5 for children ages 5 and over. $10 per
adult
-Contribution of trees/tree tagging, types of erosion,
forest levels, water cycle, food chain, IDing trees.
House tour to follow for those interested.
Wed., Oct 7 - Volunteers needed – clean out and re-plant
Woodburn herb garden, 9:30AM-11:30AM
Ghost tours – Woodburn- Oct. 2 or 3.
Ashtabula – Oct. 9,10, 16, 17, 23, 30
-8 PM. Ages 16 and over. $30. Tickets go on sale

Saturday, September 6, is a great day in Pendleton, SC. Come take a leisurely stroll around town and visit our many and varied businesses to dine, shop, explore, and just enjoy. It's HOT outside, but our businesses are so very COOL in more ways than one. Tomorrow, plan to visit Ashtabula at 1:00 for the FREE spinning demonstration on the piazza and then take the paid house tour at 2. Woodburn will have a house tour at 3:30. Tours are five dollars for ages 5-18 and ten dollars for adults. Cash or check only, please. Dress for the weather. Our house museums have no climate control. We have lots of FANS. Y'all come.

It's still hot, but Pendleton is still OPEN. If you come early, a stroll around the Village Square is possible. Restaurants and shops are open and ready to serve you:. The Guard House, Pendleton's own official SC Welcome Center, will be open today from 12-3; it's air conditioned and free to visit. The William Knauff exhibit deserves a look. Ashtabula and Woodburn will both be back open on Sunday. A special FREE demonstration of spinning will be held on the piazza at Ashtabula from 1-2. The paid house tour will be at 2. Woodburn will be open at 3:30 for the regular paid house tour. Tours are five dollars for ages 5-18 and ten dollars for adults. Cash or check only, please. Dress for the weather; our house museums are not climate controlled. WE HAVE FANS. Please come see us.

It's HOT outside, but Pendleton has many cool places to be. Our restaurants offer a wide variety of delicious food. We have tasty treats available, such as ice cream, candy, and cookies. And our shops are filled with items you didn't even know you needed or wanted until you saw them. Unique items. Popular items. Pendleton offers history, hospitality, happiness, and the feeling of being home. The Guard House on the Village Green is open for information and conversation from 2-5 today; it's an official SC Welcome Center; it is air conditioned; it is free to visit, and it is home to the William Knauff museum. Things to remember: Ashtabula and Woodburn will both be CLOSED for tours Thursday, September 3, and Friday, September 4. They will be OPEN for tours on Sunday, September 6. Ashtabula continues the FREE First Sunday events with a spinning demonstration and a paid house tour at 2. Woodburn opens for one tour at 3:30 as usual. The Guard House, Pendleton's own official SC Welcome Center, will be open for information and conversation on Thursday, September 3, from 2-5. Come view the William Knauff artifacts. If you are planning an event, ask about renting the Jenkins House; rates are so reasonable. And do not forget that the tickets to the House Ghost Tours go on sale on September 8 on our website, pendletonhistoricfoundation.org. So much to see, do, and remember.

GOOD NEWS and other news. Ashtabula is OPEN for drop-in tours today, September 2, 2026, from 10-1. On Sunday, September 6, Ashtabula is hosting a FREE spinning demonstration at 1:00 followed by the paid house tour at 2:00. Woodburn will be open on Sunday for the regular 3:30 tour. Our other news is that both Ashtabula and Woodburn are closed this week on Thursday and Friday. Please come join us today and/or Sunday and discover local history. Tours are five dollars for ages 5-18 and ten dollars for adults. Cash or check only, please. Dress for the weather. Our museums have no central climate control. Tickets for the House Ghost Tours at both Woodburn and Ashtabula go on sale on our website, pendletonhistoricfoundation.org, on September 8. Tickets are limited each night to 25 guests and cost $30.00 per individual. This is for persons 16 and above. We have tours throughout October on the weekends. Dates and places are on our website.
