Whitman Works Company is a boutique artisan gallery in Rochester, New York. Our focus is on finding unique those talents and help bring attention to their works. While much of our focus can be on the more “traditional” painting and sculpture, we also work to expose and elevate the work of other types of makers as well. Our space is divided into two sections. The front is a classic gallery boutique

with a rich selection of fine arts and artisan creations such as jewelry, wood-work, glass, pottery, and metal-work. The back is a formal exhibition space where we highlight a special artist or theme each month. A boutique artisan gallery focused on promoting local artists, jewelers and makers of all kinds.

Our Story - Hidden Gems

We have always been fascinated by art. Over the years and after many travels, we had a small collection of art put together from various places. There was always a great interest in local arts, but always felt in our attempts to dive more deeply that we ended up glancing off the surface.

There is an incredible wealth of artistic talent in our area, but the options to view seemed scattered. As we started to dig deeper into the idea of a gallery, we found that many great artists are hidden away. If we don’t see them at a First Friday or a festival, how do we find them? How are their works being discovered? Even more well known locales are by appointment only.

So we opened Whitman Works Company to provide a retail-style venue that could provide space for these artists and their amazing works to be discovered - by you. Our vision was to have two sections: a front boutique gallery that has a regular rotation of work by various artists, and an exhibition area that would allow artists to have a broader impact exhibiting full chapters in their art.

It has been an incredible joy and honor to be able to serve these artists and collectors alike. We hope you can make regular passes through the gallery to see our latest discoveries and enrich your spaces with great art.
