Congratulations to APS Fellow Dr. Blake McGready for successfully defending his dissertation and earning his PhD in History from The Graduate Center, CUNY! Blake has worked on his dissertation titled “Making Nature's Nation: The Revolutionary War and Environmental Interdependence in New York, 1775–1783” at the APS as our long-term David Center for the American Revolution Predoctoral Fellow and successfully bucked his “predoctoral” title.

The city of Philadelphia is busy renovating, planting, and decorating in preparation for this July’s semiquincentennial celebrations. At the APS and the David Center for the American Revolution, we’re taking this anniversary as an opportunity to reflect with a conference on “America’s 1776: Independence and its Enduring Legacies.” The opening keynote will feature acclaimed historians discussing “July 4th, 1776.”

Congratulations to Robert B. Caldwell on his publication of "Choctaw-Apache Voices Volume 2" with Sandhills/Lewis-Clark Press. This new volume follows the success of “Choctaw-Apache Voices” published in 2023 by Stephen F. Austin University Press. Both were edited by Caldwell and Thomas Parrie and feature stories, folklore, history, poems, artwork, and more from Choctaw-Apache people. Caldwell joined us at the APS in 2025 and 2016 as a Library Fellow and is currently a professor at the University at Buffalo.
