Some MVPs of keeping our waterways clean don't even have a backbone. 😮

Freshwater mussels live along stream bottoms, filtering water, improving habitats, and processing up to 10 gallons daily per individual. With 70% of species threatened or endangered, their role in clean water ecosystems is becoming increasingly urgent.

Millions of birds pass through the Philadelphia region each year along the Atlantic Flyway. The bad news? Many are at risk for window strikes. The good news? Individuals like you can make a real difference. From making windows safer to turning off unnecessary lights and reporting collisions, small actions add up to safer skies for migrating birds.

The Academy is a force for nature! Do you ever wonder what our scientists are up to while they aren't out in the field, in the lab, or analyzing data?

On March 17, the Academy’s Dr. David Keller joined leaders from the in Washington, D.C., to meet with members of Congress about protecting and restoring the Delaware River. Representing 200 organizations across five states, the Coalition highlighted the watershed’s importance as a source of clean drinking water for more than 14 million people and a driver of the regional economy.

Dr. Keller also attended the Congressional Delaware River Watershed Caucus breakfast and met with congressional offices to advocate for continued support of restoration efforts, including the Delaware River Basin Protection Act.
