America’s sixth largest city is home to an amazing abundance of surprising wildlife: the peregrine falcon, the fastest animal on earth; the coyote, a recent immigrant to Wild Philly; the beaver, once vanished and now making an astonishing comeback; and more. Meet some of the region’s featured creatures and learn some of the best places you can go to see the full diversity of Philly area wildlife. You'll also learn some of the largest threats to nature, plus great ways you can help heal nature.

The lecture is presented by writer-naturalist Mike Weilbacher, author of Wild Philly: Explore the Amazing Nature in and Around Philadelphia, a book that presents 29 walks you can enjoy to explore the best of nature, arranged by season. Mike travels the region presenting lectures and walks on nature and the environment, everything from climate change in Philadelphia to the extraordinary life cycle of the monarch butterfly. The former host of Earth Talk on WHYY-FM and "Mike the All-Natural Science Guy" on WXPN-FM's Kid's Corner, his programs have reached thousands of people. He'll sell and sign copies of his book after the lecture.

Free refreshments begin at 6:00 PM; lecture begins at 6:30 PM. This event is sponsored by the Friends Free Library at Germantown Friends School, Grumblethorpe, Historic Germantown, Historic Rittenhouse Town, Stenton, and Wyck Historic House, Garden, and Farm.

It’s Saturday morning, so the Grumblethorpe Youth farmers are open for business! We are located just outside the historic Grumblethorpe Museum house and will be here until 1:30 PM. Hope to see you!

The kids have been working hard today harvesting all of our wonderful produce for farmstand tomorrow morning. Including the best sour cherries in Germantown! A lot of effort to get those cherries down from the trees, but the kids have done a great job and this will be our only harvest. So show up early tomorrow if you want some. Farm stand is from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM right in front of the historic museum house at 5267 Germantown Ave. And chef Gail will be sharing some of her great recipes as well. See you there!

Beautiful crops growing at Grumblethorpe ready to be harvested for our very first farmstand of the season. We hope to see you tomorrow morning at 9:30 in front of the historic museum located at 5267 Germantown Ave. We will be there every Saturday morning in June, July, and August. Looking forward to another great season!

Grumblethorpe is having its annual plant sale today and tomorrow! Friday, May 9 from 4 PM to 7 PM and Saturday, May 10 from 10 AM to 2 PM. We will be set up on the sidewalk right in front of the historic house at 5267 Germantown Ave.(Right where Queen Lane dead ends into Germantown Avenue). See you there! Yeah, it might rain, but we will still be there. Lots of herbs and veggies, beautiful annual flowers for sun and shade, containers, and inground. Please come by and help support our farm and youth programs!
