Once a month, join ISM for coffee and an in-depth discussion about the traditions of wooden boatbuilding along the Delaware River! Our skilled shipwrights will lead detailed discussions of current projects in the shop (Like the Durham Boat Project that we are completing in partnership with Friends of ) while also highlighting methods, materials, and history of the region’s vessels.

The next session will be taking place on 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝟒.

Cross the equator and turn the world upside down with the Independence Seaport Museum on board 𝘖𝘭𝘺𝘮𝘱𝘪𝘢 during Neptune’s Bar! This themed 𝙊𝙡𝙮𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙖 𝘼𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙃𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨 event draws inspiration from “Crossing the Line” ceremonies onboard naval vessels to initiate new sailors (or pollywogs) once they’ve crossed the equator.

Another Saturday means another 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥!

From 𝟏𝟏 𝐀𝐌 – 𝟓 𝐏𝐌, come to Cherry Street Pier and celebrate the achievements of the first steamboat with passenger and freight alongside the Delaware River.

𝘓𝘦𝘵 𝘰𝘧𝘧 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 at this full day of festivities. Our friends from the Philadelphia Historic District 250th Committee will be bringing storytelling and performances between 11 AM and 1 PM, and make sure to carve out some time to stop and see the ONE sculpture that was designed by Gwenn Seemel.

Independence Seaport Museum’s newest exhibit, 𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳: 𝘗𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘢, 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘢 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢, tells the story of trade between the United States and China. In recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we will be sharing some of the products that highlight the current cultural exchange between the two nations. All items can be found online or in our Museum Store seven days a week.
