Grizzly Grizzly

Grizzly Grizzly Grizzly Grizzly is an artist collective in Philadelphia, PA. We create a meeting-ground for dialog.

We are all practicing artists who also curate exhibitions, performances and alternative programming. Using the creative problem-solving skills needed in our daily studio practices, we create a meeting-ground for dialog and a space for innovative work without the constraints of institutional agendas or commercial interests. We are a collective of sharp edges, committed to frank discussion and unexp

ected pairings. We do not strive for consensus; we do not show our own work in the space. We are artists curating other artists, supporting a community of makers from within. Grizzly Grizzly's ongoing mission is to blur organizational lines, promote community, and take risks. In our intimate exhibition space, we build new connections between artists, curators and our greater community in Philadelphia and beyond.

Profile: BBy (he/they), self-described “party starter,” arrives with an ego-forward, shimmering persona masking the uneasy edges of performance culture. His work revels in nightlife fantasies; it is hyper-glamorous, frenetic, and addictive, while exposing the fragile architectures that hold him up. Behind the mirror sheen is a desire for visibility, connection, and escape.  BBy’s responses to the other artists toggle between seduction and deflection, humor and confession. (Artist: ?????)

Profile: Memories of Masculinity (he/him/bro), brings a posture of swaggering authority that unravels on closer inspection. His sculptural presence slumps under the weight of nostalgia, discipline, and learned hardness. The work carries the scent of synthetic citrus and regret, folding humor into a critique of power, performance, and the brittle shell of the “alpha” myth. His exchanges reveal a longing to be held without being repaired, and a persistent ache beneath the bravado. (Artist: ?????)

Profile: Smoked Whitefish (they/them), offers a counterpoint of warmth, community, and exuberance in an ensemble-minded practice rooted in gathering, repetition, pattern, and humor. Their work tilts between celebration and melancholy, weaving together tessellation, food, friendship, and shared time. Their profile is earnest, open, lightly chaotic, and responds to the others with curiosity and generosity, folding their own multiplicity into the evolving conversation. (Artist: ?????)

A zine designed by will be available for purchase starting Friday.

FRIDAY!
Divine Tragedy: Sarah Jamison, Jake Lahah, Victoria Shaheen

January 9 - February 1, 2026

Reception: January 9, 6-9 PM

Hours: Sat-Sun from 2-6 PM

Opening the 2026 exhibition season, Grizzly Grizzly presents Divine Tragedy, featuring works by Sarah Jamison, Jake Lahah, and Victoria Shaheen. Across ceramic sculpture, painting and drawing, and textiles, the exhibition brings together research-driven and material-focused practices that examine personal and collective histories, and the uneasy relationship between beauty, power, and survival. Each artist recontextualizes ephemera to investigate what it means to be seen, understood, and valued in a world of shifting symbols and fragmented narratives.

With a nod to Longfellow’s 1871 poem, in elegiac dialogue with Dante’s descent into hell, the artists in Divine Tragedy explore the human condition. K-pop fandoms, Barbie dolls, butterflies, tarot readings, and neon lights become both playful gestures and tools for critique. Divine Tragedy reflects the artists’ exploration of systems of control, exploitation, and erasure; systems that both promise and deny hope.
