The 46th Annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show will take place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, November 11-13, with a preview event on November 10, 2022.

Melissa Schmidt’s glass studio is in her backyard in Saint Louis, Missouri. Raised in Hawaii and San Francisco, she has always felt at home in the artistic world. She is known for her whimsical feminine aesthetic and soft palette. Her incorporation of unusual materials such as 35mm slide film, papers, and natural materials within the glass bubbles is just the tip of her vast mixed-media artillery. Her pieces are built to last and as strong as they are beautiful.

Claudia Mills has been weaving rugs for close to thirty years, adapting the traditional rag rug craft to her own contemporary aesthetic. As a designer, she tries to strike a balance between color, texture, and pattern in each rug: interlacing colored yarns and strips of fabric to create infinitely variable possibilities for color and textural effects. While her rugs have a contemporary, vibrant feel, they retain the texture and warmth of traditional rag rugs.

Nate Cotterman is known for his modern interpretation of glass objects using traditional Venetian glass-blowing techniques. He challenges low-end production with innovative design and handmade quality. He has created a line of barware, lighting, & home decor that is both subtle and powerful. His simple forms highlight the natural beauty of the material.

Angela Humes is a first-generation Palestinian/American artist, making functional black and white porcelain ceramic art. She aspires to transcend the functional into fine art. All of her wheel-thrown pieces are handmade, and each wears a hand-drawn sgraffito design inspired by her heritage. Every piece is unique, as she never repeats the same pattern twice. Many of her pieces also have pure white gold added to the surfaces.

For Nicholas Kekic, glassblowing has become a process of taking a unique, transparent, very hot liquid and freezing it at room temperature, in a controlled and sometimes precarious balancing act of heat, physics, timing, and human intervention in these processes. He finds glass most beautiful when worked in such a way that conveys its fluidity as a material while expressing its unique relationship with light and transparency.

K. Riley's training and specialties are in textile and apparel design, illustration, and costume history. This botanical and insect-inspired collection contrasts imagery of organic forms with geometric patterns and is hand block-printed. She designs, illustrates, and hand-carves linoleum blocks, using multiple blocks for each textile printing. Her goal is to create a handmade, one-of-a-kind garment that is flattering and comfortable, uses high-quality fabrics, has timeless design, couture details, and impeccable craftsmanship.

Liaung Chung Yen uses geometric shapes, architectural elements, and hollow construction forms to interpret nature. As a result, the work is separated into two directions: one is toward plants, flowers, gardens, and the other is rocks, minerals, and landscapes. His work is also an exploration of sculpture form in jewelry. He tries to create images in his work that will tell stories and express emotions.

Ann Marie Cianciolo believes that, upon close examination, everyday life can be extraordinary. It's the hidden humor, duality, and mischief in daily life that inspire her sculptural jewelry, infusing it with a sense of surprise. The unlikely juxtaposition of mundane objects in her work depicts an absurd miniature world. All of the pieces are fabricated by hand in silver, gold, and copper with precious and semi-precious stones.

Jonathan Rutledge strives to create a sense of timeless beauty in his jewelry, reminiscent of what one might see in a museum, yet suited to what one would want to wear in today's world. He incorporates goldsmithing processes made famous by the Greeks and Etruscans and primarily works in high-karat gold and gemstones. He uses a technique in his work called granulation. This means that all the patterns in his jewelry are made of individually placed tiny gold granules fused in place.
