I am an artist using habits of the heart to facilitate connection, healing and learning through photography, poetry & traditional needlework.

I am a white wife and mother of two in a Lakȟóta Thiwáhe residing in the Sonoran Desert.
My life is a residency in Matrescence and outdoor learning through indigenous ways of knowing.

Living a kindred legacy means I’m on an intentional motherhood journey living in relationship with the land & future generations of kin. In ceremony, I weave together cultural traditions with in-between moments.

See Megan's work in Finding Home, a two-person show alongside Kat Davis. Open this Friday 6-9, Saturday 3-6, and Sunday 11-3.

Central to my practice is a sense of searching. I sift through found photographs, lingering on anonymous faces and everyday moments; a hand reaching for another, the quiet act of coexisting. I’m drawn to the tension of what’s lost to time and what remains. Through layering, obscuring, and recombining found images, I create works that feel like memories both familiar and mysterious.
Photography is a tool of preservation, but also of revision. My work challenges the idea of photography as fact and investigates how memories are restructured. It’s an exploration of memory, home, and identity, shaped by my experiences as a mixed-race and nonbinary artist. I also invite viewers to bring their own interpretations to the work. I want them to ask: Whose memories are we seeing? What stories do we impose on them? How do images shape what we believe about ourselves?

OPENING THIS FRIDAY!
This exhibition brings together two harmonizing artistic voices—Kat Davis and Megan Driving Hawk—whose work centers on memory, identity, and the ways our personal and cultural histories continue to shape us.
Kat Davis creates collage and photographic work using found imagery, crafting visual narratives that explore the fluidity of memory and the role nostalgia plays in shaping who we think we are.
Megan Driving Hawk brings a deeply personal lens to motherhood, ancestry, and cultural preservation, using photography, writing, and mixed media to trace the layered experience of matrescence.
