We would like a moment to thank Chef Jaren Bates for his participation at our inaugural Harmony Gala. As one of the six featured chefs that evening, Chef Jaren presented a menu that showcased the incredible tastes that wild ingredients and Native American Cuisine can offer. All proceeds from the Harmony Gala support the development of our new permanent exhibit that opens in February of 2027. SVM appreciates Chef Jaren’s meaningful contribution to this important milestone.

Artist Cory Hubbard (Salt River Pima – Maricopa Indian Community) has shaped locally sourced clay into this stunning effigy vessel with micaceous fragments throughout the piece, blending contemporary form with the shimmering textures of this material. The sculptural figure’s rounded body and carved features highlight the expressive possibilities of earth, fire, and tradition.

This piece is currently available for purchase in the museum store, alongside hundreds of works created by Indigenous artisans from across Arizona and the greater Southwest.
