My studio is home to my graphic design & marketing business, where I work with clients to bring their marketing and creative needs to life. After working in large ad agencies over most of my career, I now value working with individual clients one on one. Most small and mid-sized businesses would benefit from a refined graphic identity and market presence, but few can afford to retain the services

of large agencies with overhead. As a freelance designer with years of experience, I can offer that same level of expertise, but on a more personalized, affordable scale. My strengths are in logo development, corporate identity packages, print collateral (business cards, brochures, annual reports, posters, t-shirts), web design and ads/marketing plans. Another facet of my studio is hosting and instructing Art & Vine painting parties, where people can come in small, intimate groups in a relaxed environment, and release their inner creativity through the painting process. I believe children possess a great deal of creativity, and art allows them to express themselves in an unrestrained way. It's my one year anniversary of being a creative solopreneur! I thought I'd update everyone on the happenings at my art & design studio at 104 West Main Street. Art & Vine is full service art studio where you can bring your friends, book a party, or meet new people and paint a really good painting. I'm going to have more open paint nights this Fall, and will post samples and the calendar soon. I'll be hosting an Art Education day once a week for home school groups, and after school kids. Other things in the works... artistically painted furniture, canvases and prints for sale, as well as cards, eclectic items - all in time for Christmas. Thanks for all of the support from my friends and community!

It's finally summer, so that means it's Art Camp time! I'm having TWO camps this summer, in July and August. Last summer, we had a great time and created a lot of art work. I have new projects planned for this summer; fun things to challenge and help your budding artist grow. Happy Mother's Day... and the locals know that Mother's Day and Mayfest go hand in hand. I am honored to be the graphic designer all of the marketing materials for the Pilot Mountain Mayfest this year, including the flyers, signs, banners and t-shirts. Drop by my booth in front of my studio where I'll be face painting for the third year in a row (so much fun!). I'll also be selling my Mayfest t-shirts, and newly designed Pilot Mountain t-shirts.

Posting on FB every 7 weeks will NOT be my modus operandi in the new year! I think it's called "working the kinks out" of my new business, and I'm having a ball! I love being on Main Street of this beautiful small town, I love my clients that are keeping me busy, and I love that I'm learning new things everyday. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks :) An update to this new venture.....

A little update on my new studio....
I'll be transitioning from my home office to my new office on Main Street starting tomorrow, working on design jobs, and getting everything in it's place. So for the next few days, I'll be in and out, but welcome visitors anytime. I will have an official Open House the week of October 13 (fyi, that's Columbus Day, charting new waters and all that.....yes, corny:). I'll have lots of surprise giveaways during my Open House, so I hope everyone can stop by during that week, if not before. I would appreciate prayers for my new venture. God has paved the way in every facet, and I'll give Him all the honor and credit.

GRAND OPENING - OCTOBER 1st!

I've had lots of people stop by my new shop on Main Street in the last few weeks while we've been remodeling asking, "When is the big day?" Answer: October 1st! Please stop by and visit. Several people have asked, "What do you do?" There is a multi-faceted answer for this:

GRAPHIC DESIGN / FREELANCE DESIGN - I've been a Designer/Art Director for 25 years, working in the advertising industry. I'm bringing that experience and adding in small town service and less add-on fees than you'll get with a big agency. Great, customized work that fits small business budgets. Logos, Print Advertising (brochures, annual reports, posters, business cards & stationery), Web Design and Marketing are a few of the services that I offer. I have a passion for great design!

ART & VINE Painting Parties - I've recently purchased this business from a friend, and will be moving it into my shop down the street from it's original location. Plenty of room and atmosphere to relax and release your inner creativity! Have a glass of wine, listen to good music, and create your own masterpiece. I'm booking now, including birthday parties. I have a passion for painting & individual expression!

ART EDUCATION - Working as a substitute teacher has brought me such fulfillment and admiration for the teaching profession. I also see a need for extracurricular art education. I'll be teaching small group lessons on a weekly basis, as well as specialized workshops for children and adults. I have a passion for children realizing their potential through the arts!

CALLIGRAPHY & FINE ART - I also paint (customized artwork to fit any decor) and create original works. I have a passion for hand-lettering and calligraphy and use this in my design work frequently. Calligraphy lessons will be added to my art education menu soon. I have a passion for typography & expressing myself creatively!

Thank you for all of the support I've received so far in my new venture. I'm excited to be on Main Street and offering my services to our community.

Summer Art Camp 2014 was SO FUN! Thanks to all of the parents who entrusted me with your precious kids last week. We created many different art projects, laughed and learned. We even got to play Pictionary (and on the playground when the sun came out) during our breaks. Let me say that this was one of the most rewarding weeks I've had in a long time. Just being around these little bundles of personality, showing them some art techniques, watching them work, their freedom with different mediums....totally inspiring. I've had many parents ask me about continuing art workshops and art education - and it's in the works! More details soon!

Attention parents of art camp kids coming tomorrow - please make sure to bring your child's registration if you haven't sent it in yet. Dress your child comfortably and in clothes they can be messy in :) Remember, Grades K-3 Session from 9am-12, Grades 4-8 Session 1pm-4pm. It's going to be a great week! Making art is fun....and fulfilling...and therapeutic.... and energizing..... and did I mention FUN?

If you haven't registered your child but would like to have them attend, I may have a few spaces left. I will know more tomorrow.

I'm making final preparations for the art camp that I'm holding August 11-15th. Spaces are limited, but I'm trying to balance the classes and will try my best to get your child in. I've got lots a fun projects planned: drawing (in many different ways), painting, mosaics, batik-ing, zentangling (fun, beautiful, and relaxing), and lots of other art forms.

If you'd like for your child to attend, please send me a message with cell number and email information. I will contact you about your child's spot.

Well, I'm taking the plunge! My dream of becoming a creative entrepreneur is one step closer to being a reality. I am opening a studio space at 104 Main Street, Pilot Mtn. I'll be working in there during the month of August, painting and setting up, then open for business in early September. Graphic design (logos, brochures, posters, flyers, etc.) plus art education (teaching private and small group art lessons). More information plus my website launch coming soon! I could use a few prayers :)
