Embark on an exciting journey through history with our Junior Historian program, running from June 15th to June 18th, from 10AM to 1PM!

Designed for children aged 8 to 12, this program combines outdoor exploration with hands-on history lessons. Our young adventurers will discover the past in a whole new way as they explore local history and nature. Join us for a fantastic mix of outdoor exploration, history, and learning!

About 1876, the Lighthouse Service decided to place small libraries at some stations. The libraries stayed for about 6 months, and then exchanged for another. The goal was to provide keepers with interesting and fresh reading material and alleviate the isolation at some stations.

SAVE THE DATE! The summer solstice means the sun will be at its highest point in the sky, providing us with more light than any other day of the year. Come enjoy the additional daylight with after-hour tours of the Piney Point Lighthouse Museum & Historic Park. Visitors may tour our exhibitions in the Main Museum and join our staff while visiting our historic structures, the 1836 lighthouse tower and Keeper’s Quarters, as well as the Potomac River Maritime Exhibit.

Come together for a guided walk honoring the history and significance of Juneteenth at U.S. Colored Troops Interpretive Center at the Lexington Manor Passive Park.
