Join Diné pianist and musicologist Renata Yazzie for a live piano performance and guided listening session featuring works by Indigenous composers and a beading workshop led by Trevor Jones (Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe).

Join us Aug. 28–29 for (Un)Welcome: An (Un)Gathering, a two-day symposium exploring the limits, tensions and possibilities of hospitality through the perspectives of Indigenous Peoples of the Americas.

The gathering will feature panel discussions, a book club conversation, a film night, a morning listening session and embodied acts of hospitality—all designed to create opportunities for listening, learning, discussion and connection.

A multidisciplinary transnational cohort of scholars convened in Pittsburgh, May 25-27, to explore the ethical, legal, economic, cultural, biological, and environmental issues raised by the accelerating socio-political interest in expanding human presence in outer space. Keynote speaker on the first day of the conference, Octavio A. Chon-Torres, Profesor de la Universidad de Lima, explored the ethical gaps in institutional and corporate planning for space exploration. Keynote speakers on the second day, Bryce Kennedy, Executive Director of the Space Valley Foundation, and Ana Maria Pinta Da Silva, Head of the School of Design at CMU, described how design principles might be used to forge networks of stakeholders to ensure that legal, political, and economic conversations about possible futures in space include diverse voices and perspectives
