We here at Late Space know you have been wondering what is in store for the future of the gallery and we are excited to announce our transfer of directorship! For the past two years Late Space’s fearless leader Catherine Oldershaw has expertly fostered the emerging art community in Pittsburgh. We want to thank Catherine for her vision, dedication and passion in making Late Space what it is today and for graciously handing over the reins as she charts her next endeavors. Esther Michaels () and Bowen Schmitt () are curators, artists and visionaries within the Pittsburgh community. Esther received her undergraduate degree in photography and art history from Carnegie Mellon, moving on to complete a Masters of Museum Studies at NYU. Bowen is a Pittsburgh native who received a Bachelors of Art in sculpture from Tyler School of Art. Together they ran the experimental gallery for two years in Philadelphia, with the help of two other collaborators.
We are pleased to announce they will be taking over Late Space as the new directors, where they will continue to honor the gallery’s core mission and provide exposure for emerging local artists. Make sure to mark your calendar for the first show under their new directorship Lawn & Landscape featuring new works by artist Matt Coombs (.matt) opening March 6! @ Late Space
