2020 First Amendment Ride

The Knights on Bikes

September 17-19, 2020

FIRST AMENDMENT OVERVIEW
The First Amendment of the United States Constitution protects the right to freedom of religion and freedom of expression from government interference. It prohibits any laws that establish a national religion, impede the free exercise of religion, abridge the freedom of speech, infringe upon the freedom of the press, interfere with the right to peaceably assemble, or prohibit citizens from petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances. It was adopted into the Bill of Rights in 1791. The Supreme Court interprets the extent of the protection afforded to these rights. The First Amendment has been interpreted by the Court as applying to the entire federal government even though it is only expressly applicable to Congress. Furthermore, the Court has interpreted the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment as protecting the rights in the First Amendment from interference by state governments.

PURPOSE OF OUR RIDE
As faithful Catholics, members of the Knights of Columbus, and members of the Knights on Bikes, we are compelled by the Holy Spirit to publicly remind all Americans that we have the right to freedom of religion and speech.

We need not be silent in this time of turmoil, but we need to show this country what the First Amendment is all about. Our ride will be rich in symbolism and led by the Holy Spirit

THE RIDE
The Ride will start in Key West, Florida on Route US 1 from September 17 through the 19th. We will meet 7:15AM at the Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea (Meet at the Grotto of Unborn Children and head to 7:30 AM Mass)

We encourage people to join us and meet us where you can along the way.

IF YOU CAN’T JOIN US….WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO?

MERCHANDISE: There will be First Amendment Ride shirts available for purchase. The shirts are a beautiful red to represent the blood of Christ with white text that represents the purity which flows from his sacrifice.

We are taking orders as soon as possible!

All proceeds will help pay for the film crew and raise money for further Knights on Bikes efforts such as helping the poor, fighting human trafficking, etc.

SEND US VIDEO:

If you can’t join us in Florida, we encourage every Knights on Bikes chapter to ride in sync with us over our three-day ride (9/17-9/19) and record (with your phone) as much as you can!

If you can’t ride with the Knights then send us a video of you riding your bike and a clip of you saying part of the first amendment: Free exercise of Religion, Petition the Government, Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Speech, Right to peaceable Assembly.

We plan to make a video highlight from all the contributors to share on social media and multiple other platforms.

My Brothers:

Due to the recent Pandemic, people are frightened, events are being canceled, programs for the Lenten Season are canceled, schools are being closed, Dioceses are suspending Masses, not only in our Country but in others, people are being Forced from GOD.

We as Knights on Bikes must take a stand for our Families, our Parishes and above All our Lord and Savior! I have heard some of our Priests refer to us as the New Knights Templar, the new warriors for the Faith and Church. We are pulled into Spiritual Warfare, abortions still being conducted and members of one of the political parties trying to sneak funding to help these slaughter mills continue, the statue of moloch being erected in front of the Coliseum, a prayer written to the god pachamama to protect land and make it fertile, this is breaking the First Commandment by putting other gods before GOD and the ones listed before are all attacks against Christ. Is GOD pi**ed? He Should be and so should We! Having events with our Brothers and doing Charity work is Great and needs to be done but, we are now in the era where we need to Stand and be men, Leaders of our Communities, willing to Stand for Christ, Family, we must enter into Spiritual Warfare, we have been Given to tools by God to do so. This is what I am asking from you by Brothers.

I am requesting that All Knights on Bikes across the United States and Canada to conduct a prayer meeting every night, either at their Parish, K of C council, if these are not available to you then open your home. We will do this to show GODs people that there is nothing to Fear and GOD is with us. We will start our prayer session with 1) the Prayer to St. Michael, 2) Then proceed with the Holy Rosary, for the Protection of Our Church, Family, and Friends. On each bead of the Hail Mary at Holy Mary Mother of GOD pray for__________, at this point place what your intention is for, now and at the hour of their Death. It does not have to be the same intention on every Hail Mary, just make it personal and turn it up to GOD. The closing Prayer will be: Hear our pleas, our good shepherd and divine physician. We implore your mercy in the wake of an outbreak of serious illness and disease. Guide our efforts to prevent contagion and make preparations to care for those most vulnerable. Assist all professionals and volunteers who work to eradicate the epidemic now spreading. May our actions be marked by your steadfast love and selfless service and never by panic or fear.
Bestow your comfort and healing to the sick, sustain and strengthen them by your grace. May they know your closeness as they carry the cross of illness. And may all you have called from this life come to worship you and eternally with all the saints as you grant consolation and peace to their mourners. Amen

Holy Mary, Health of the Sick, Pray for us
St. Joseph, Hope of the Sick, Pray for us.
St. Rocco, protector against epidemics, Pray for us.

In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit AMEN.

I will be starting this on Monday at 6 pm Eastern Time and received permission from my Priest to hold it in the basement of our Church. I will try to post a new prayer for Spiritual Warfare each night to add to what we are doing. The time is Now my Brothers lets end the Fear, Stand for Christ and protect our Church.

Brothers, please read the post below, especially if you live in Texas. Let's help Father Sinclair Oubre and form an Es**rt for the Funeral. This would be quite an honor to be asked to do this and to give a Brother Knight a proper send off.

Dear Brother Knights on Bikes,
I have been contacted by the nephew and niece of Herbert Kennerson, a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, and then from St. James Catholic, that he passed away.

Please keep him in your prayers, and if there are some of our KonB available, it would be wonderful to offer a honor guard from St. James Church to Live Oak Cemetery on West Port Arthur Road.

When the details for the funeral come out, I will forward it to you.

Brothers and Sisters, for those of you going on the ride after the Rally this is the hotel information for the stop in Marquette. Will arrive on August 9 and out on August 10. $160 for the one night, I suggest doubling up to split the cost. The code for the rooms is Knights on Bikes.

Please Keep SK Lawrence Stewart and his family in your prayers. SK Lawrence Stewart Mother left this world to be with our Lord in his Kingdom.
