HELP-HELP-HELP
As many of you know, the locks are almost complete and opening in June. Yay! The same company is starting work on the museum and they are requesting some information to help with the re-set.

They would like a few memories you have of growing up in Iberville - things that you think capture "life in Iberville" that make it special or treasured.

If you would like to contribute, please email your responses to: [email protected] and I will see they get to the right person. We need them by June 9th please. ---Many thanks.

We are still looking to hire a Curator and the hiring committee will start meeting soon to review resumes. We hope to have one hired before Christmas.
If any of our corporate friends have money left over in your FY2024 budgets, please consider donating to us. We are a 501(c)(3) corporation and your donations are tax-deductible. Since the parish pays the curator's salary, every dime we receive goes back into the museum for exhibits and operating expenses. Other than a couple of part-time workers, we are all volunteers.
Also, our non-corporate friends are invited to make a donation to the museum as well. The same tax deduction applies, and rest assured, all your money will stay local and be used by the museum.
Thank you for considering us and we hope you and your families all have a safe and happy holiday season.

There’s a lot of reasons to not keep materials in a frame, but one of the more fun ones is that you’ll never know what you find on the back.

Here I’ve found a supplement to a Harper’s Weekly from August 13, 1887 talking about sugar and cotton in South Louisiana. While the drawings of an unnamed plantation on the front were what was framed, this is more important to our archival collection.

We've been hard at work getting the collection properly organized and stored.

Part of that is creating custom housing for oddly shaped (and not in good condition) items like this slop bowl from a pewter serving set.

We believe it dates to 1847 and was owned by Zipporah Hawes Hooper of Rosedale.

Because of its delicate condition, we're creating housing that will support the bottom.
