This week's gives us another angle of a famous Stevens Point building. Do you recognize it?
This is the back side of Old Main on the UW-Stevens Point campus in 1968, taken for the Stevens Point Journal. UWSP had just built a heating plant on the north side of campus, near the dorms, and the original heating plant was being torn down. The space where the original heating plant was located became green space and later, a parking lot.
On the edges of the photo you can see the west and east wing additions to Old Main, which were made in 1901 and 1914. In 1977 these wings were removed and the structure was renovated back to the original size, and it was converted to an administration building.
The second photo is from the Doug Wojcik collection, showing Old Main in 2001. Old Main has been the main administration building on campus for almost 50 years!
