It is November and time to honor God with Thanksgiving:

Let our Object Be Our Country

“The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice.” (Psalm 97:1)

We are a country founded on Christian principles since the day of the signing of The Declaration of Independence when after signing it Samual Adams commented:

“We have this day restored the Sovereign to whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in heaven, and from the rising to the setting of the sun, let His Kingdom come.”

And Daniel Webster explained the importance that having our Sovereign on His throne means to our country:

“Let our object be our country, our whole country, and nothing but our country. And, by the blessing of God, may that country itself become a vast and splendid monument, not of oppression and terror, but of wisdom, of peace, and of liberty, upon which the world may gaze with admiration forever.”

Founding of our Nation
“I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great.” (Genesis 12:2)
We find true freedom by being followers of Jesus Christ both as individuals and as nations. That great patriot, Patrick Henry describes the founding of our nation:
“It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship here.”
This is a Christian nation and that is good because Christianity is inclusive. You do not need to be a Christian to reap the benefits of a Christian nation. We are all equal in the sight of God.

We in America are searching for true freedom and our Founding Fathers knew where to find it. In the words of Samuel Adams: "The right to freedom being the gift of the Almighty ... The rights of the colonists as Christians ... may be best understood by reading and carefully studying the institution of the Great Law Giver and Head of the Christian Church, which are to be found clearly written and promulgated in the New Testament." At the Jenney we highlight the family and that fathers should be the cornerstone of the family. General Douglas MacArthur described the kind of son he wanted: "Build me a son O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is week, brave enough to face himself when he is afraid, one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory."
