You can learn a great deal about America by going underground in Pocahontas.
The coal mined from these mountains helped power a nation, but the story of Pocahontas has always been about more than what came from the ground. It is also the story of the people who built a town here, raised their families here and made a life in the Virginia coalfields.
Today, the Pocahontas Exhibition Mine and Museum keeps that history alive, telling a story that began in the mountains of Tazewell County and became part of America's story.
