Oakland History Center Where History Happens! Focused on two centuries of fascinating stories from Oakland County, Michigan
(2)

The Oakland History Center is located at Pine Grove, the former estate of Michigan Governor Moses Wisner, in historic Pontiac. Our county is celebrating their bicentennial 200th year and we are located in the county seat. Today, Pine Grove consists of five acres of land, the Wisner mansion and several out-buildings, including a summer kitchen, outhouse, smokehouse and root cellar. In addition to t

he outbuildings, there is the Drayton Plains One Room School House and the Carriage House, which is home to the Research Library, office and historic exhibits. Group tours of six or more may be arranged by contacting us to schedule an appointment. Visitors may also tour Pine Grove during special events, such as our Summer Social or Victorian Christmas Open House. Please click on our website for info on tours, membership, hours, research, publications, news, etc.

Hood ornament from one of the earliest Pontiac vehicles; this year is the 100th anniversary of Pontiac’s car brand, and we’ve got tons of celebrating on tap for later this month! Don’t miss the parade of hundreds of Pontiacs through our downtown on Friday evening, June 26th! This beautiful vehicle and hood ornament is on display at our Pontiac Transportation Museum.

Pontiac’s late, great Hubert Price, Jr. He served our community in many roles, including as our County Commissioner and State Representative. Though he passed away in 2016, his spirit and legacy remains strong. We recently came across this photo and believe it was from a function in the late 1970s.
