Thanks so much to everyone who attended our 12th annual All Pontiac Cruise & Show. There was rain off and on all day Sunday but we still had over 100 cars. A lot of people came to see the show and museum, but left their cars at home, we appreciate you as well. A special thank you to the Gateway GTO Association and Heart of Illinois GTOAA chapters for once again organizing and running the show. And Alan Finkenbinder for planning the Saturday cruise which was very well attended. We look forward to a sunnier third weekend of September in 2024 for our 13th annual event.

It's the 50th anniversary of the '73 GTO and we're celebrating. The 12th annual GTOAA Regional All Pontiac Cruise and show at the Pontiac-Oakland Museum will be highlighting the '73, the lowest production year of any GTO. No matter what condition, bring your '73 GTO and celebrate with us September 16-17. We will have special parking for the '73s and commemorative T-shirts will be available. See you there!

The Pontiac Preservation Association's Hall of Fame display had previously popped up at different Pontiac events, last seen at Norwalk two years ago. Now, it is on permanent display at the Pontiac-Oakland Museum in Pontiac, Illinois. Pontiac enthusiasts who want to check it out can now see it anytime, as the museum is open seven days a week. Executive Director Tim Dye said "This is a great addition to the museum and we are honored to have it here. I hope that the display now having more visibility will help further the goals of the Pontiac Preservation Association which mirrors that of our own—preserving Pontiac history".

On March 5 we lost a good friend of the museum when former Pontiac Assistant Chief Engineer Bill Collins passed away. Bill was instrumental in the development of the GTO, and in 1974 left GM to work with John DeLorean to develop his DeLorean car. Five years later he moved on from there returning to Pontiac, Michigan to bring to life his vision of a sleek, low profile motorhome with modern styling that would fit in the average garage. He started the Vixen Motor Company in 1981. Only 587 examples were built between 1986 and 1989, and recently Bill donated the only prototype of the Vixen to the museum. Bill was an automotive engineer who had a hand in many iconic vehicles, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He left an unforgettable legacy and will be missed by the entire automotive enthusiasts community, friends and family.

We now have a very significant GTO on display at the museum. It's a 1970 Ram Air IV with V.O.E (vacuum operated exhaust), and 4-speed. It was a pilot car, it was featured in a famous TV commercial, in the GM stockholders book and many magazines in late '69 that were featuring the new 1970 models. It will be on display through mid summer, we are nearly done with the display, come and see it at the Pontiac-Oakland Museum, Pontiac, IL.
