The Margaret Harwell Art Museum in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, owes its existence to the generosity of its namesake and benefactor, the late Margaret Harwell -- an amateur artist, businesswoman and civic leader. Harwell died in 1977, she left a part of her estate to the City of Poplar Bluff to establish a center for art cl

asses and exhibits. In 1978, an Arts and Museum Advisory Board was formed to take on the task. Dalton home, itself rich in local history and architecture, to house the museum. The Margaret Harwell Art Museum opened to the public in November 1981.

“Beyond the Horizon”
The Margaret Harwell Art Museum is proud to bring you this exciting landscape exhibit we think Ottinger for conceiving and organizing this exhibit. It’s an opportunity to see many landscapes by fine artists from across the Midwest this exhibit showcases work by artists from Kansas, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. David Ottinger has come to know these fine artists through his years of teaching and exhibiting we are thrilled and honored to be chosen to host this event. The exhibit runs from May 9 through June 26 with the opening reception on 9 May from 2 PM to 5 PM. Wine and refreshments will be served by the friends of Margaret Harwell Art Museum.

Best in Show was awarded to Allison Arnold from Dexter for her entry titled "Beautiful Rarity" featuring the White Rhinoceros.
1st in Mixed Media went to Mackenzie Meese of Bernie for her Mixed Media (quilling) of an octopus titled "Underwater Symphony".
1st in 3D was awarded to Jasmine Jones of Dexter for her peacock sculpture titled "Kevin".
1st in Drawing went to Savannah Jones of Malden for her entry titled "Memory of Her Faith".
1st in Fiber went to Nicole Akers from Neelyville for her dress made of "Hot Chip Bag(s)".
Each first place recipient receives $50 with the Best in Show receiving $200!
2nd and 3rd place winners received $35 and $25 respectively. Numerous Honorable Mentions were handed out as well.
