September brings one of our favorite exhibitions of the year — The Merit Show!

This special exhibition celebrates the artists who earned 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place, along with the People’s Choice Award, in our March 2026 Tiddle Caylor All-Members Show.
The Merit Show gives these award-winning artists an opportunity to step into the spotlight and share a larger collection of their work — and we can’t wait for you to see what they’ve created.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be First Friday without a little fun!
Join us from 5:30–7:30 PM and enjoy live music by Down Town Eli Brown, bringing bluesy, jazzy tunes to the Art Center while you browse the exhibition.
We’ll have complimentary wine and appetizers, plenty of wonderful art, and a gallery full of friends, artists and supporters to help us kick off September.

Celebrate World Shorebirds Day with us!

Fall migration is underway, and you never know who might be stopping by the Port Aransas Nature Preserve! Join us this Saturday at 8 a.m. for a FREE guided nature walk along the Salt Island Trail at Charlie’s Pasture.

Local bird expert Terry Little will lead the walk, with Nature Preserve Manager Rae Mooney joining. Together, we’ll explore this important coastal habitat and look for the shorebirds that depend on it during migration.

Did you know? 🌎 The Nature Preserve at Charlie’s Pasture is designated as a Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network (WHSRN) site of regional importance—recognition of the vital role this habitat plays for shorebirds.

Bring your binoculars, water, and curiosity, and come see what’s passing through! Binoculars will be available for loan.

About this event:
This class is geared for beginner to intermediate painters.
Some of the things students will learn:
-How to paint with a limited palette, mixing colors as needed
-Use different kinds of brush strokes and mark making
-Talk about composition of a painting
-Helpful info about working with acrylics, i.e.: how to speed up or slow down drying times
Because this is a painting class, not a drawing class, some assistance will be provided to help, ie: a pattern to trace around, or a photo.
