Joan Jonland is one of our favorite local painters. Arriving in Port Townsend in the mid-seventies, Joan is drawn to the variety of soft grays and vibrant golds, the strength of the Pudget Sound Coastline. "Here," she says, "inspired by the natural power, I am tempted to portray this in a painting."

Simon Mace will be open though May 29th to tempt you with Joan's powerful impressionist-style paintings of the place we call home.

Not only is Max Grover one of Port Townsend’s best known artists with collectors far and wide, but, Max and his beloved late wife, Sherry, planted the seed which was to become Simon Mace Gallery. Being able to exhibit his work at the gallery feels like a wonderful goal realized! Max’s charming paintings with familiar motifs and collaged collectibles strike a chord with all ages.

Simon Mace's Grand Finale show "Girl Power" features painter Jeff Weekley. Weekly's incredibly detailed surrealist paintings have captured the imaginations of gallery visitors since our opening show in 2011. We are delighted to exhibit his newest work for our final show. Kim Murton has been making sculpture and functional ceramics in her home in Vancouver, WA for nearly two decades, working mostly with with low-fire terra cotta clay and colored slips. Her work is inspired and influenced by pre-Columbian and Mexican pottery, mixed with training and work history in animation and a love of ceramics.

We currently have several pieces on display from her series she’s dubbed Sweater Cats, inspired by the pink p***y hats worn by many thousands of women (and men) around the world during the Women’s March.

For Cathie Joy Young, painting is an intuitive process that revels in the unexpected and mysterious. Working in acrylic on wood panels, her work maintains the formal aspects of composition while allowing imagery and color to build a story. Cathie feels like these stories are borrowed dreams and memories.
