Gallery 224

Gallery 224 Gallery 224 is part of Port Washington Saukville Arts Council, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Gallery 224 is a non-profit organization committed to providing a venue for thinking about art. Gallery 224 has a 11- year history in the Port Washington community, has hosted over 50 art exhibitions and featured the work of over 600 artists. We are currently promoting ARTservancy, a year-long artist-in-residence program in partnership with the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust, the River Revitalizati

on Foundation, the Western Great Lakes Bird and Bat Conservatory and the Milwaukee Area Land Conservancy. ARTservancy seeks to promote the visionary work of both the artists and conservationists. The art created as a result of these residency experiences are featured as solo exhibitions rotating monthly throughout the year. We also exhibit the work of current and previous artists-in-residence at Studio 224.

This Saturday is full of art, nature, and community connection. 🌿🎨
We’ll be in two places throughout the day:

🕊️ Lake Michigan Bird Observatory Event
⏰ 9 AM–1 PM
Join us for a hands-on ARTservancy activity inspired by habitat, migration, and the natural world. Visitors can create simple nesting material orbs using natural fibers for birds and pollinators to use throughout the season... a small but meaningful way to support local wildlife while connecting creativity and conservation.

🎨 Port Washington Festival of the Arts
⏰ 11 AM–5 PM
Stop by our interactive community installation, Wildflower Patch. Visitors of all ages are invited to add a fabric strip to help build a growing textile-inspired landscape throughout the day. The completed collaborative artwork will be displayed at the gallery as a reflection of shared creativity and community participation.

Spend the morning with the birds, the afternoon making art downtown or join us for both.

ARTservancy Artist Spotlight:
Rebecca Jabs

We’re excited to share this beautiful feature on ARTservancy artist-in-residence Rebecca Jabs, written, photographed, and documented by Eddee Daniels for his blog, The Natural Realm.

Rebecca is one of 12 artists participating in ARTservancy, a year-long residency program now in its seventh year. A collaboration between Gallery 224 and regional conservation partners including Restoring Lands Land Trust, Milwaukee Area Land Conservancy, Tall Pines Conservancy, and Lake Michigan Bird Observatory, ARTservancy promotes the visionary work of both artists and conservationists.

Each participating artist selects a preserve to spend time in, observe, and engage with throughout the year. Rebecca’s residency site is Forest Beach Migratory Preserve, where her work explores the land, its living systems, and the layered stories found there.

Artist Sarah Gail Luther is spending this year in residence at the Eschweiler Lavery Conservancy...and what she’s finding goes beyond the landscape.

The land she’s working in is tied to her own family history, turning this residency into something much more personal.

“Can the energy and spirit of a place live within us for generations?”

That question is now shaping the work she is creating...and how she helps others experience this landscape.

We celebrate, admire, and stay inspired by the land around us this Earth Day 🌎

ARTservancy, our flagship program, is a year-long residency through Gallery 224 where artists spend time on local conservation sites, paying attention, getting curious, and letting those places shape what they create.

Their work is thoughtful, unexpected, and deeply connected to the land.

We support conservation through creativity and connection...come see what the land inspired at Gallery 224!

Volunteer at Gallery 224! 🎨

We’re currently expanding our volunteer team and looking for a few people who would enjoy spending time in a creative, community-focused space.

This is a great fit for someone who has a few hours of daytime availability each month and wants to be part of what’s happening at the gallery.

What you’ll do:

-Welcome visitors đź‘‹
-Ring up artwork sales (we’ll show you how)
-Create a warm, inviting experience for guests

Time commitment:

One 3–4 hour shift per month (or more if you’d like)

We’re especially looking for weekday daytime availability ⏰

If you’ve been to a reception or stopped in before, this is a great way to get more involved.

Hey!! Check out the Gallery 224 mention in this article by World Atlas on the 9 most walkable town centers in Wisconsin. ✨️

In these 9 towns in Wisconsin, the most interesting places are close enough together that the walk itself becomes the structure of the visit.
