🌊 Thank You, Resident Keepers! 🌊

As another wonderful season comes to a close at the 1860 Light Station Museum, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of our incredible Resident Keepers who helped bring history to life this summer.

Your dedication, enthusiasm, and passion for sharing the stories of the Light Station created memorable experiences for visitors from near and far. Whether welcoming guests, interpreting history, or helping preserve this special place, your contributions made a lasting impact and are deeply appreciated.

The 1860 Light Station Museum is now closed for the season and will reopen on June 30 next year. Until then, we are grateful for everyone who visited, supported, and shared in another successful season.

To our Resident Keepers: thank you for making this summer shine. We look forward to seeing you again next season!

⏳ Only 10 days left to visit the Light Station before we close for the season on September 20th!

💙 A special thank you to ALL our incredible resident keepers whose dedication and support helped make this summer a success. We couldn't do it without you!

📸 Featured in this photo are Anne and Richard, who traveled all the way from Indianapolis to spend a week in August living at the Light Station. Their enthusiasm, hard work, and commitment helped make the season memorable for both visitors and staff alike.

Ozaukee Radio Club and LEFROG are once again teaming up to participate in the 29th running of the International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend!

Due to ongoing construction at the site, the club did not participate in 2025 but was invited back this year to again activate the 1860 Light Station in Port Washington, WI.

Welcome back! Everyone, stop by to check out the club set up and work the equipment this weekend.

☀️ Wow, summer is flying by so quickly!

We've been enjoying our resident keepers at the Light Station and are so thankful for all their help this season. We hope everyone has been having a great time giving tours, sharing the station's history, and experiencing life in Port.

As part of our ongoing Resident Keeper Program, we’re thrilled to once again welcome a full roster of visiting resident keepers throughout the summer. These dedicated stewards will be living at the light station and providing engaging tours for visitors—offering a unique, firsthand glimpse into life at the lighthouse.

✨ A Night to Remember: The Search for the Linda E. ✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an engaging and well‑attended presentation, “The Search for the Linda E.,” with historian Brennan Christianson. We were thrilled to see such a strong turnout and enthusiastic discussion around this powerful piece of Great Lakes history.

Brennan Christianson—Collection Coordinator at the Door County Maritime Museum and a UWM graduate with a master’s in Public History and a certificate in Museum Studies—shared his extensive research on the mysterious disappearance of the commercial fishing vessel Linda E.

On December 11, 1998, what began as a calm, sunny day on Lake Michigan ended in tragedy. Three experienced commercial anglers left Port to fish for chubs and never returned. No debris. No oil slick. No trace. Their disappearance launched an eighteen‑month search that continues to capture the attention of maritime historians and the public alike.

Thank you again to and to everyone who came out to learn, reflect, and honor this haunting chapter of local maritime history. We look forward to seeing you at future programs!
