A piece of history from the St. Louis Pl***oy Club! Swipe through to see a rare piece of the club’s original carpet, an original business envelope from the club, and a Bunny application form—all now part of the Pl***oy Museum collection. Also pictured is the original club location before being moved, and a picture of the original club menu.
I’m beyond excited to have secured these pieces.
📍The St. Louis club first opened its doors on October 16, 1962, and later relocated to the old Ramada Inn on Lindbergh Blvd in 1975. If you look closely at the vintage photos, you can spot this exact carpet!
The club wasn’t just iconic for its Bunnies. It featured:
🍸 The Playmate Bar
🎹 The Piano Bar
📚 The Library
🎭 Cartoon Corner
🎉 The Playpen (for private parties)
🔑 The Penthouse (invitation only)
💇♂️ Plus a barber shop, beauty salon, and club offices downstairs.
Membership was $25, with a $20 annual fee for keyholders. Within just two years, the club had 17,600 active members! It was that popular—lines stretched down the block on weekends. Even Bobby Darin was once turned away because the club was at max capacity!
🎤 Legendary performers like George Carlin, Pat Morita, Flip Wilson, and Richard Pryor graced the stage here. It’s a very good possibility that these same celebrities walked across this very piece of carpet. Imagine the stories this carpet could tell…
Sadly, the club closed for good on August 11, 1985, and all Pl***oy Clubs shut down by 1988.
