Are you enjoying the hot summer weather?

I have to admit, I feel for my colleagues in the painting department, who are etching and airbrushing in full protective gear in these temperatures. My office on the other hand, is in the basement and stays pretty cool. Lucky me. How and where are you working these days?

In 2018, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden’s largest medical university, opened its new facility: Biomedicum – a state of the art laboratory building which houses five departments. Inspired by organic shapes, the well-known Danish architectural firm C.F. Møller Architects designed a building, characterized by light and transparency. These qualities are reflected in the unique art glass façade that clads the four main stairwells of the building: 1,000 square meters of mouth-blown Lamberts Glass®, each sheet independently lit, stretching across 9 stories, harmonizing with the buildings features, yet uniquely beautiful.

Another project almost done! 😬
Last week, American artist Guy Kemper was at the studio to work on a new commission: The hanging installation will be installed later this year at Pierce College campus in Lakewood, WA.
Guy chose opalescent hand-blown Lamberts glass, which was delicately etched and hand painted by our head painter Rahmi. Afterwards, the hand-blown glass was laminated to safety glass.
I am very much looking forward to see the piece installed.🤩

In anticipation of the warm days:
In the fall of 2020, this beautiful fountain column was installed in front of the Cistercian Abbey in Waldsassen. As soon as the temperatures rise, the fountain can be put into operation for the first time and water will flow over the stone steps.
The column was designed by artist Rahmi Schulz. For its realization, he chose mouth-blown genuine antique glass from the Lamberts glassworks, which was artistically etched and painted with enamel colors in our workshops.
The result is well worth a visit: on sunny days, the glasses conjure up magnificent plays of color on the stone. A great sight!
