The team at Bullseye Studio was honored to work with Wendy Red Star to make this monumental work of glass. "The Soil You See..." acknowledges the names of 50 ApsΓ‘alooke chiefs and tribal representatives who brokered treaties with the US government in the 19th century.

Public Art Installation at Sea-Tac

Fabrication is currently well underway at Bullseye Studio for a large-scale public artwork by Seattle-based artist Morgan Madison.

Commissioned for the expanded SEA Gateway at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, the project brings together design, ecology, and kilnformed glass at architectural scale.

This image: a photographic composite of actual kilnformed glass components for "Salish Sea", one of thirteen triptych panels being fabricated by Bullseye Studio for Morgan Madison's Sea-Tac artwork, "Cascadia".

// - This juicy piece of eye candy is a full-scale sample fabricated by for a new permanent kiln-formed glass installation at SEA- Seattle-Tacoma Intl Airport. My largest project to date, I have had my head down in the studio for the last year and a half working on the details

Many hats have been worn, and I have learned a lot on the fly. Now that fabrication is underway, I can catch my breath a little while the uber talented folks at Bullseye Studio bring this work to life, thanks y’all!

Thanks also to .g.human and and the team at the Port of Seattle for all the support getting to this point

More glimpses behind the scenes coming soon...

Watershed, a kilnformed artwork by Portland-based artist Sumi Wu, will feature seven glass waterfalls that dynamically express the interconnectedness of the natural environment and human communities. The artwork’s fabrication is currently underway at Bullseye Studio and is destined for the Oregon State Police facility in Central Point. Here is a preview of the three panels that will comprise the first waterfall, Earth, with colors and textures representing fungi, roots, and root cells.

One of her works, the monumental "The Soil You See..." was fabricated at Bullseye Studio in 2023. See more at https://studio.bullseyeglass.com/projects/the-soil-you-see/

Wendy Red Star draws from her ApsΓ‘alooke/Crow heritage to create visual art that bridges Indigenous perspectives with contemporary art. She hopes to use the grant money to sustain her art and upcoming show at the National Portrait Gallery in D.C.

We are thrilled to see "The Soil You See" by Wendy Red Star in its new setting.
