Please join us next Thursday for the opening reception of Rebecca Boraz's solo exhibition "For the Taking"

Also make sure to mark your calendar for these exciting events upcoming!

Preview: June 3rd 5-7 pm
First Thursday Opening Reception: June 4th 5-8 pm
Artist Talk: June 20th 11am

About this new body of work Boraz writes:
"For the Taking brings together reduction relief
prints, intaglio works, and ceramics that examine the human impulse to consume. These pieces consider how taking can exist as both survival and excess. Through images, objects, patterns, and symbols, the works interplay with one another, revealing how consumption can be layered and nonreciprocal-at times essential for survival, at others driven by greed. At the same time, moments of tenderness surface: the warmth of holding a child, the intimacy of sharing a meal with friends. The exhibition reflects on the complexities of desire and the negotiations that shape what we choose to take."

We hope to see you in the weeks upcoming!

Highlighting Animals in Kevin Kadar's exhibition "Recent Landscapes and Seascapes, a Memorial Career Survey"

Kevin Kadar loved animals, he especially loved cows, and was a vegan most of his life as a result. The cow is an image that appeared throughout many of his later paintings. Sometimes the cows were just standing out in a field, sometimes they were holding up the rear of a parade of animals.

Known for his diverse range of paintings, Kevin, in his early working years, mainly painted figures. Over time his palette expanded and his images grew beyond figures into complex landscapes and detailed dreamscape scenes. In 2017, overwhelmed by the political climate of the time, Kadar shifter away from painting figures almost entirely and started to paint animals instead. These animals stood in for and took on the human traits he was trying to distance himself from.

Here is a selected range of Kevin Kadar paintings that feature animals.
See how many you can spot!

Kevin Kadar (1955-2025) was known for his incredibly fine painting, his articulate conversations on painting, and his genuine, kind spirit.

This memorial retrospective exhibit spans over 50 years - from some of Kadar's earliest drawings as a young child, to a self portrait Kadar made upon his college graduation in 1976, The Vacuum World paintings, Envelope paintings, figure studies, en plein aire paintings made during travel across Europe and USA, and his most recent paintings including the Bandiagara Escarpment series.
Kadar's paintings are imbued with a timeless, otherworldly quality, whether his subjects are dynamic nudes, surrealistic allegorical scenes or masterful landscapes which allude to his years spent painting and museum-going around Europe.

Kevin Kadar was a graduate of Cooper Union in New York City. His artwork is included in many corporate, private and public collections including the Tacoma Art Museum, The Oregon Historical Society and the Hallie Ford Museum of Art at Willamette University in Salem, OR.

We hope you can visit and spend time with this show, we look forward to seeing you soon.
