Verum Ultimum is moving and during the transition Verum's strong virtual presence will be in full force with new exhibitions, the newly acquired virtual galleries, social media fanfare, new calls for art, and blogposts. Some say, “it’s in the little things,” and artist Morgan Curtis takes us there as he zooms in on small everyday items that go largely unnoticed. He sets them in a heroic stage. There’s a delicate quality to his brushwork (as if seen through a veil).

Artist Katie Zesiger cuts shapes from the negative space (born of physical form). This is a masterful-figurative point of view! The sensuousness of the body (as land) with mounds and folds (golden and warm)…like honey! And look closely to find the magical bee-ing in the fold. Did you spot it?

A truly lovely perspective and a lovely piece that is both fierce and frail (and of beings, beasts, and seed).

It’s Thursday and it feels like time to stretch, rise, and reach. To celebrate the fierce and the frail…the art created by hand and this trio of artists that honor the expanse of arms, the spread of wings, and the unfolding of a visual story. They each employ unforgettable characters with incredible reach to draw us into the mystery and it’s so hard to look away!

Today’s elegant trio plays with scale and shakes the foundation of what we might expect. Surprising twists of size and material include Damia Smith’s larger than life earrings (8 feet high), Ian Shelly’s tiny stoneware house encased in a vise of wood, and Pati Hays’ “Rooted Conundrum,” materially rich collagraph.
