✨This is Mini Art Mart✨

Artists making things while you watch. People finding things they didn’t know they needed. Music in the grass. Dogs under the tents. Friends running into friends. Art changing hands. Flowers going home with somebody. C***r. Weiners. A little bit of beautiful chaos.

We started Mini Art Mart because we wanted to make a place for artists and makers to show up, try things, meet people, sell their work…
and for the rest of us to spend an afternoon wandering around and seeing what we might find.

Wvwry time we do this, it feels a little more like its own thing.

Thank you to every artist and maker who brought your work, to The Whiskeyhickon Boys for filling the village with music, to Excursion C***rs + Excursion C***rs at the Snug for being such wonderful neighbors and collaborators, and to every person (and dog) who wandered through, stopped to look, talked to an artist, bought something, listened for a while, or just hung out in the grass with us.

This is why we keep doing it.

Well, we are a bit rained out today,
but I love the village in the rain! 🧡

One of the things I love most about POPROX is that it has never been just a store.

It's where my work as an artist, musician, organizer, shopkeeper, and neighbor all seem to meet.

Some weeks I'm unpacking new artwork.

Some weeks I'm rehearsing with Ancient Ego and other music projects.

Some weeks I'm helping put together community events or traveling for creative projects.

And somewhere in between...I'm sweeping the porch, watering the ferns, pricing jewelry, and welcoming people through the door.

So my hours occasionally shift.

Not because POPROX is less important—

Because it's part of a much bigger creative life.

Thanks for continuing to stop in, follow along, and cheer on all the different pieces.

For two years, one of my favorite parts of owning POPROX has been getting to know the artists, musicians, writers, makers, performers, and dreamers who wander through our little village.

Some are just beginning.

Some have been quietly making work for decades.

Some simply need someone to say, "Keep going."

That's one of the reasons the Kenneth M. Grebe Foundation exists.

Creative Practice Grant applications are now open, and if you have an active creative practice, or know someone who does, I hope you'll take a look.

This isn't a competition to find the "best" artist.

It's about supporting people who are already doing the work.

Applications are open through August 31.

You'll find all the information at the Foundation website.

Even if you aren't an artist or applying yourself, sharing the opportunity with another artist is a wonderful way to support your creative community.
