Come check out September's C.H.A.T. Program: Discovering the Mosquito Fleet: One Model at a Time!

CHAT: Conversation. History. Archives. Treats.

Discover the story of the Mosquito Fleet—the small ships that once connected our local communities before roads and bridges! This CHAT program highlights Puget sound Maritime’s virtual exhibit on 10 specific Mosquito Fleet ship models, drawing from our own artifacts in collaboration. Learn how these vessels shaped daily life and regional growth through stories, photographs, and local history!

We can't wait to see you there!

👻 Ghosts in the Graveyard – Volunteer Roles
October 24th, 2026 • Vinland Graveyard

Become a Ghost Host and help bring local history to life for visitors. Volunteers can sign up solo or with a partner/spouse. Each Ghost Host portrays a real person or family buried at Vinland and shares a short 2–3 minute story about their life.

Ghost Host roles include:

Character Portrayal — represent a historical figure from Vinland and greet visitors as they arrive at your gravesite

Short Bio Presentation — deliver a 2–3 minute story about your character; we’ll help you research and prepare

Visitor Engagement — answer simple questions, guide guests through your character’s history, and help create an immersive experience

Optional Partner Roles — host as a duo to portray couples or family members buried together

This event is fun, educational, and a wonderful way to share Poulsbo’s history with the community.

If you are interested in being a Ghost Host for Ghosts in the Graveyard please contact Judy Driscoll at [email protected] by September 1.

Item of the Week: Peppermint Charms Jewelry

A piece of history you can wear. Peppermint Charms, a small artisan studio based in Vancouver, WA, transforms century‑old Mason jars into stunning handcrafted jewelry. Each charm begins as a fragment of glass from a 100‑year‑old jar, carefully cut, polished, and set into a modern design. It’s heritage you can hold—local craftsmanship paired with authentic historic material.

Take home a bit of history with jewelry that preserves the past while shining in the present.

Found in our Maritime Museum Store.
