The Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation's Interpretive Center strives to preserve and share the story of a place where nearly 14,000 people of Japanese ancestry were incarcerated over the course of World War II. Come visit us to learn more about this period of American history through the collection of artifacts in our permanent exhibit and our walking tour of the site.

We congratulate Friends of Minidoka for receiving a grant from the Mellon Foundation for Transcendent: The Life and Work of Artist Takuichi Fujii. Developed as part of Beyond the Barbed Wire: Japanese American Stories of the Pacific Northwest, the project invites audiences to engage with Japanese American history through art, storytelling, and personal narrative while highlighting the enduring power of creativity, resilience, and humanity.

Takuichi Fujii believed in art as a vehicle to lift the observer above everyday life and to a higher plane of existence.
