Help preserve Prattsburgh’s history!
The Narcissa Prentiss House, birthplace of Narcissa Prentiss Whitman, is a vital part of Prattsburgh’s heritage. This historic home connects us directly to a remarkable woman whose life helped shape both our local story and the broader history of the American frontier.
The Committee to Preserve the Narcissa Prentiss House is dedicated to preserving this important landmark and Narcissa’s story for future generations. If you care about our community’s history and would be willing to lend your time, ideas or expertise, we would welcome your involvement.
This is not an onerous commitment. There is no cost to be a member. The Committee meets 2-3 times a year. Available members staff a table at Prattsburgh’s Summerfest and Winterfest Craft Show, host during the open hours at the House June through September (typically a 4 hour stint) and the Steuben County History Weekend, and join in on indoor and outdoor improvement projects.
Members are not required to be Prattsburgh residents, the original committee had members as far away as Corning!
Please consider joining us and giving back!
