Congratulations to Ava Hudson for receiving the Thesis Excellence Award! Ava’s paintings explore selfhood, pop culture and our ever-connected world through the traditional medium of painting. Juror and Dean of SESA noted Ava’s consistency across the entire thesis body of work as well as her dedication to a representational oeuvre.

For the past four semesters, we’ve offered a Thesis Excellence Award. This year, we were excited to recognize Matthew Pattison as the Honorable Mention. The Dean of the School of Education, Social Sciences and the Arts, Christopher Harrington, judged the exhibition and noted Pattison’s skills in world-building and storytelling through digital illustration and color.

We celebrate our seniors tomorrow! The 2026 Spring Thesis exhibition reception starts at 4:30 pm and features work by Tatum Ayers, Ava Hudson, Donyell Lyons, Zai Kimber, Ava Hudson, Jonah Stepner, Akaysa Smith, Matthew Pattison, Paige Perkins, Kamarion Pettaway, Monique Pettigrew, and Kayla Wilkerson.
