During an investigation last summer with Brandie Wells, The Breakthrough Medium, a guest named Amy took these two pictures. She snapped a photo of the black mourning dress that many say has potential paranormal activity associated with it. She then went into another room (servants bedroom) and snapped a photo in that room of an old dresser/mirror. Could the infamous roaming lady in black be following her? Amy was wearing a white sweatshirt and jeans and has blonde hair…🧐

Perhaps one of the most unusual spaces within the castle is the third floor Turret Sitting Room. Stained glass windows in yellows and blues are set above large curved glass windows allowing for amazing views of the valley and green mountains. Intended for a place to relax away from the hustle and bustle in the nearby Ballroom, this space still has the original windows, bench seat, and stained glass light fixture!

Did you know?

Today the castle is surrounded by a small pine forest but back in the earlier times, the estate was fairly void of trees and resembled vast sweeping meadows and pastures. The land behind the castle (as shown) was originally fenced in containing various white-tailed deer hand picked and imported from Windsor Park in England. The trees were later planted by Col. Wilson upon purchasing the castle for a woodlot providing fuel for the various fireplaces and stoves.

Same place, 90 years apart.
This black and white picture was taken in the Drawing Room during the mid 1930’s when the castle was used as a beauty school called the Elie Academy. The most recent picture was taken in 2024. Notice the mirror in the corner? This piece remains from that time along with the rooms signature grand fireplace and three round windows. The plush mustard yellow carpet was later added by the Wilson family.

Did you know?

Located in the basement deep below the Drawing Room is this large brick structure we’ve nicknamed the pizza oven. Though not used to cook food, it was part of the original furnace system used to heat the castle in the earliest days.
