My mother’s and my 33 year project has been delivered today to a publisher for the next phase of production - designing and printing! I am so excited! And a little bit exhausted!!
It’s the story of William Smead who came to Dorchester Massachusetts as an infant in 1636 and his sons and descendants who settled Northampton, Deerfield, Greenfield, Shelburne and Conway, and beyond. His grandfather, Thomas Stoughton, was an important figure in the 1580s Protestant movement in England. His cousin was the hanging judge in 1690s Salem.
William’s investment in 1674 Deerfield turned into substantial Smead farms staying in the family into the 1990s. Great book!!
