PROSPECT HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Prospect Historical Society invites graduating high school seniors (either high school or home school) who are residents of Prospect to apply for a $1,000 scholarship. Applicants must be attending an institution of higher learning in the Fall of 2024.

The 2021 Nellie and Ruth Cowdell Scholarship

Prospect residents and students who are members of the graduating class of 2021 are eligible for this scholarship. The deadline for submitting this application is May 7, 2021.

4. Please write a one-page essay on one of the following topics: (See attached bibliography .)

a. Why do you think Prospect is the Best Little Town in Connecticut?
b. A living history of an elder Prospect resident whom you have interviewed.
c. A brief history of the town of Prospect.

The Prospect Historical Society is proud to announce the election of a new president, Carol Brooks. Carol is a lifelong resident of Prospect and truly her heart lies in preserving the history of one very terrific town! She has volunteered her time as vice president for the past few years and was a contributing member before that since 2012. Carol is very involved in many town activities and willingly gives her time to many great projects.

Sunday March 13, 2016 there is a free talk at the Prospect Library and everyone is invited to attend. The talk will be about the history of Prospect seen through they eyes of Matt Buonaiuto and his metal detector. There will be exhibits of items found at the Hotchkiss House and private property in and around Prospect. Refreshments will be served. The event starts at 2pm.
