Travel back in time with us for a night that celebrates the evolution of creativity at New Urban Arts! For our 29th birthday, we are hurling the studio into the prehistoric past. POSTPONED: Due to the historic snowstorm, we are postponing Midyear Makings one week, so we have time to properly setup the gallery space and make sure the roads and sidewalks are safe for you to come see us. Come through next week, shake off the snow, and see what our students have been up to!

TOMORROW’S VALENTINE’S EVENT IS RESCHEDULED

New Urban Arts stands in solidarity with Minnesota and supports Providence’s student community as they exercise their First Amendment rights on Friday, January 30.

The studio will remain open as a resource for our youth community. We recognize that not everyone has the ability or choice to participate in a walkout or rally, so our studio will continue to be a safe haven for those who are staying behind, or for those walking back and in need of a warm place to land. Be safe, dress warmly, and take care of one another.

Join us this Thursday at 4 PM for Holding Space, an exhibition of work by current New Urban Arts students, on view at Providence City Hall from 1/15–3/16.

Created by high school artists in our Studio programs and NUA Knights, these works were made while students spent time together in our shared creative space, experimenting, learning, and supporting one another. With the support of adult mentors, students explored ideas that matter to them in ways that feel personal and honest. The exhibition brings together a wide range of media, ideas, and approaches, offering insight into students’ individual creative processes and the environments that help their creativity flourish.

New Urban Arts is a welcoming community of Providence high school students and adult mentors sharing space, skills, and resources to inspire creative expression.
