Museum of Mormon Mexican History Mexican Mormon History Museum Inc. in Provo UT. The Museum operates primarily through donations and the support of the Gomez family.

This museum documents the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico, focusing on the first generation of LDS converts to the Church. Initially located in Mexico City, it moved to its current location in Provo, UT, in 2014 and has served that area ever since. The exhibits include the history of the “Mormon Colonies” in Mexico, the Third Convention movement, and the transn

ational relationship between the Salt Lake City church headquarters and the members of the church in Mexico, both Mexican citizens and transplants.

These photos from our collection showcase the community at the Mesa Temple in Arizona, including the 'First Lamanite Temple Excursion at Mesa' in 1945 and a group photo of Mexican members at the Mesa Temple in 1959.

The Mesa Temple is incredibly important to the history of Mexican LDS membership, not only were the Lamanite Conferences held there but scholar Sujey Vega even says "Mesa [Temple] predated Salt Lake City's historical Lucero Ward... When it was built, the Mesa Temple was the only one in the continental United States outside Utah, it remained that way for nearly twenty years." (Vega, 32). The first chapter of her book "Mormon Barrior" focuses on the history of La Rama Mexicana.

Over Memorial Day weekend, we had the honor of welcoming the family of Dolores Rivera de Torres to the Museum of Mormon Mexican History. Her grandson, along with his wife, children, and grandchildren, came to learn more about their remarkable Mexican Pioneer heritage.

Dolores Rivera de Torres, together with her two sisters, courageously crossed the border and helped forge a path for future generations. Their faith, sacrifice, and determination created a lasting legacy that continues to inspire their descendants today.

It was a beautiful reminder that family history is more than names and dates — it is the story of resilience, courage, and the enduring strength of heritage passed from one generation to the next.

We are grateful to preserve and share these important stories of the Mormon Mexican pioneers and the families who continue to honor their legacy. ❤️

This past week CGU's Mormon Studies Student Association hosted Dr Erin Stiles in a guest talk on her book "The Devil Sat on My Bed: Encounters with the Spirit World in Mormon Utah." Dr. Stiles (pictured here with Dr. Bowman) graciously came to present on Thursday night as she was in town for a conference. A conference where we were represented by a small goody table with free stickers and buttons for interested students. We wish to extend thanks to all those who expressed interest in our little pop up!
CGU and their Mormon Studies programs continue to be great friends to the museum. Parts of our collection are even housed in their library.
