Did Klein’s mom read the spicy scenes? How did Beatrice die in so many ways? What were the ninja swords made out of? Was Cassandra Clare’s father evil?! Did Ania marry him???

Whether they’re applauding their own cliffhangers (really nice Rick), rebuffing celebrity crushes, throwing shade at family, or reminding us that these books raised us as we cry into our pillows—some authors don’t hold back when it comes to using every inch of their book’s text.

We for one are here for it, and will be paying a lot more attention to the dedication page from now on.

“The book was better” or “In the book...” Whether you’ve spoken these phrases or been annoyed by them, the book vs. movie debate seems inescapable. But why is it so hard to please the masses? Why is it a truth universally acknowledged that the book is always better? And is it? These are the hard-hitting questions, and we invite all bookworms and film buffs alike to explore with us the ins and outs of adapting books to the screen.

The evening will include a lively presentation, followed by themed games, activities, and snacks. It will be the blockbuster of the summer, so get your tickets!
