🌊 105 Years Ago Today, Pueblo's Future Changed Forever! 🌊

On June 2, 1921, a powerful rain and hailstorm swept through Pueblo, especially Downtown, dropping nearly 2 inches of precipitation in a short amount of time. The storm caused widespread damage to trees, greenhouses, and truck gardens, with some of the worst destruction reported at The Japan Farm in Peppersauce Bottoms. 🌧️🌳

As conditions worsened, police were sent to Santa Fe Ave to assist people stranded by the storm. By 5:00 p.m., the skies had cleared, and many residents believed the worst had passed. In fact, despite the severity of the storm, many Puebloans didn't fully realize what had happened until they opened The Pueblo Star Journal the next morning. 📰

But the confusion didn't end there. Around 2:00 a.m. on June 3rd, commotion and concern spread across the city as people began to realize something much larger was unfolding. What started as a heavy storm would soon become one of the most significant events in Pueblo's history, forever changing our community and shaping the city we know today. 💙🏛️

Stay tuned to our posts in the coming days to keep up with the Great Flood 👉
