Saturday, PAHS members participated in the Amache Pilgrimage at the Amache Japanese relocation camp, cemetery and museum in Granada. Over 7,000 Japanese Americans were interned at Amache during W11. Participants were mostly decendents of these internees, but the general public was also welcomed to attend the ceremonies.
A big thanks to Dr Bonnie Clark, archaeology professor at Denver University who has been conducting archaeological digs at Amache for over 9 years and Charles Fugate DU grad student who is also helping with the summer dig program. Bonnie and Charles took the time to make the tour special for our group.

PAHS recently had a "Meet -up" at the Coyote Den in Penrose. We were treated to a talk by Carly Thorson owner of the Indian Springs Trace Fossil Area, who told us about life in the Ordovician period 450 million years ago. Carly had fossils to show us from the period that are abundant at the Indian Springs site. A big thanks to Carly and her daughter for taking the time to talk to us.
