It is with a heavy heart that I bid farewell to a talented artist, loving father, devoted husband, and one-in-a-million friend, Ed Burd. Ed was the 5th artist to join the gallery, and he has been an integral member of our gallery family for over 11 years. He was there to help at every gallery walk, reception, and public event we held whenever I asked, and even when I didn’t. He volunteered for every task from constructing an elaborate chandelier to installing a hanging system and video camera in the gallery. Even after he became a full-time caretaker for his wife, Debbie, he often arranged to bring her with him in order to continue to be a part of the gallery. Ed was an award-winning, published artist, whose meticulous pencil drawings were often mistaken for photographs, and a remarkable human being. There will always be a huge hole in my heart where Ed used to be. Rest In Peace, my friend. May you forever be hoisting a beer, shading with a pencil, and aiming at a dartboard. Please join us for a memorial on Saturday, September 14th from 2-5 at the Icehouse in Punta Gorda.
