Map:https://www.purchase.edu/sharedmedia/admissions/campus%20map.pdf Located on the SUNY Purchase College campus, The Passage Gallery is an entirely new venue, having opened in 2011. In the summer of 2010, a collaborative team from Campus Technology Services, the Neuberger Museum of Art, and the Performing Arts Center developed the concept for The Pass

age Gallery, and presented it to the Provost and the Deans - where it received enthusiastic endorsement. The space then received extensive revisions and updates to create a professional grade, multi-media exhibition environment. The assistance of students in the Community Design and the Arts Management program were enlisted, where upon a name was created, as well as brand identity and a marketing campaign for this new addition to the SUNY Purchase gallery system. The Gallery is 85’ x 25’ – and has been equipped with a free-standing wall system to allow a
high degree of flexibility in the installations that can be accommodated. The Gallery is designed to support media-based work with plentiful power and data outlets, and WiFi throughout the space. Admission is FREE to The Passage Gallery. Open Tuesday through Friday 2:00-6:00 during exhibitions. Individual exhibition dates are in development.

Detroit faces the same dilemma as many cities across America:
How can neighborhoods revitalize without displacing the people who live there?
How can communities remain cohesive when migration and mobility are such fundamental American values –
and often an economic requirement? Outsiders are both a threat and a necessity.
Artists are often used as the first wave of gentrification.
This exhibit follows a project that brings together art, architecture, and community action,
transforming a set of abandoned buildings in Detroit into a Moroccan Riad –
a small cluster of homes and businesses around a central courtyard with a shared entrance.
The Ghana ThinkTank has teamed up with faculty from SUNY Purchase College, SUNY Buffalo,
and SUNY New Paltz, as well as several Detroit neighborhood organizations to form a land trust that
seeks to retain neighborhood residences and businesses in the midst of a gentrifying neighborhood.
On Thursday, March 3 at 1pm, there will be a Theater of the Oppressed Workshop and panel
at the Passage Gallery on the intersection of Art, Architecture, and Community Action.
This exhibition is supported by Purchase College and The SUNY Arts and Humanities Network of Excellence.
