Throughout the halls of Covenant Hospital in Lubbock are vivid displays of the values of that medical institution. Each one has a quote from Scripture. For Integrity they chose 1 John 3:18: “My dear children, let’s not just talk about love; let’s practice real love. This is the only way we’ll know we’re living truly, living in God’s reality. It’s also the way to shut down debilitating self-criticism, even when there is something to it. For God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves.” (From The Message 1 John 3:18-20) God is greater than anything we allow ourselves to worry about and His love is to be shared.

Yesterday, May 9, 2026, the Eugene Johnson Foundation planted a tree at the park at the water tower on Hwy 287 in Quanah dedicated to Ron Parker. Ron was a great-grandson of Quanah Parker. Participating in the tree planting were Ron’s siblings, Don and Ardith as well as other members of the Comanche nation.

Join us Saturday for this event honoring one of Quanah Parker’s descendents, Ron Parker.

The former Quanah, Acme and Pacific Depot houses many artifacts. Some are representative of Quanah Parker; some are from the early settlers of the county; and for more recent notables such as a NASA astronaut and the famous bull rider, Lane Frost. This building was built in the early days of the 20th century and served as a working depot and corporate office of the railway until it was acquired in the 1960’s. The interior is much as it was when passengers waited to board. We are proud to have it available for visitors of all ages.
